WHAT ABOUT BAPTISM?

Q. Do I need to be baptized?
A. Mark 16:16 says “he that believeth AND IS Baptized shall be saved.”
Acts 2:38 says: “Repent, and BE BAPTIZED in the NAME of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

I Cor. 12:13: “For by one Spirit are we all BAPTIZED into one body,...”

Rom. 8:6-9: “ For to be carnally minded [is] death; but to be spiritually minded [is] life and peace. Because the carnal mind [is] enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the SPIRIT OF GOD DWELL IN YOU. Now if any man have not the SPIRIT OF CHRIST, HE IS NONE OF HIS.”

YES. YOU MUST BE BAPTIZED. In water, and in Spirit. John 3:3,5; “ Jesus answered and said unto him (Nicodemus), Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God...Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Q. What is baptism?
A. The word baptize (or baptize) is the English translation of the Greek word, “baptiso”. Baptiso means “immersion” or “to be dipped”. It does not mean “sprinkle, pour, or anoint”. It means to immerse completely, or to dip underneath.

To be baptized in water is to be completely immersed by dipping underneath. Or, to be dipped underneath until fully immersed.
To be baptized in the Spirit is not to be “blessed”, “anointed”, “touched”. It is to be completely immersed in the Spirit of God. It is an indwelling of the life of God, Himself.

Jesus was a Man filled with the Spirit of God. He was a “perfect tabernacle” which is a “tent” or dwelling place...a body. (2 Cor. 5:1 and 2 Peter 1:13,14) It was a prepared body made to house the Spirit of God without measure. As it says in Hebrews 10:5, “... a body hast thou prepared me.” A MAN in a sinless body made for God to dwell in. Col. 1:19: “For it pleased [the Father] that in him should all fullness dwell.” “For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure [unto him].” JOHN 3:34 “For in him (Jesus) dwelleth ALL THE FULLNESS OF THE GODHEAD bodily. COLOSSIANS 2:9

I Timothy 3:16: “And without controversy (argument) great (‘megale’, marvelous) is the mystery of godliness: God was MANIFEST (made visibly conspicuous, known) in the flesh, (God was) justified in the Spirit, (God was) seen of angels, (God was) preached unto the Gentiles, (God was) believed on in the world, (God was) received up into glory.” THAT IS JESUS CHRIST...God made flesh, the FULLNESS OF THE GODHEAD IN A BODY. THE SPIRIT OF GOD “tabernacled” in a MAN. THE SON OF GOD.

And when a Christian is filled with the Spirit of God, God dwelling in his flesh tabernacle, he is called a son of God. All the Christians of the Bible were filled with the Holy Ghost (Holy Spirit)...the Spirit of God.

THOSE FROM THE UPPER ROOM: Acts 2:4, “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost...”
THE MULTITUDES OF BELIEVERS: Acts 4:31 “and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost...”
Peter, The Apostle: Acts 4:8: “Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost...”
Paul, The Apostle: Acts 9:17: “and be filled with the Holy Ghost.”
“if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.” Rom. 8:9
“For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body...” 1 Cor. 12:13
“... be filled with the Spirit.” Eph. 5:18

To be a son of God you must be filled with the Spirit of God. You must be BAPTIZED by the Spirit into the body. “And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be FILLED WITH THE FULLNESS OF GOD.” Eph. 3:19
“[There is] one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who [is] above all, and through all, and in you all. (Eph. 4:4-6)

To be a Christian you MUST BE BAPTIZED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT. And when you receive the Spirit of Christ (Holy Ghost) you become known as a son of God. A SON OF GOD IS A MAN (BODY) WHICH IS FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT OF GOD.

Q. How do I get filled with the Spirit?
A. Acts 2:38-39 “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye SHALL RECEIVE THE GIFT OF THE HOLY GHOST. For the PROMISE is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, [even] as many as the Lord our God shall call.”

Acts 2:41 “Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added [unto them] about three thousand souls.”

THE VERY FIRST REVIVAL! THE VERY FIRST CONVERTS, CHRISTIANS! That is the formula.

Q. So then I must be baptized in the Spirit and in the water?
A. Yes. That was the way that it was done IN THE BIBLE. EVERY CHRISTIAN IN THE BIBLE WAS BAPTIZED IN WATER IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST AND WAS FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT. That would fulfill the requirement demanded by Jesus in John 3:5 and again in Mark 16:16.

Since we have already seen that this is what happened the first time, let’s look at the other times IN SCRIPTURE that men and women were “saved”.

The Gospels are the story of Jesus; His life, death, resurrection, and ascension. There were no Christian in the Gospels. The Holy Ghost was given, the Church was not in existence. This all took place at Pentecost. THAT IS WHEN THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH BEGAN. After Jesus died, rose, and went away.

THE BOOK OF ACTS IS THE CHURCH IN ACTION. It is not the Acts of the Apostles. It is the Acts of the Holy Spirit in the Church. In Christians. It is not the acts of the apostles only.

Steven and Phillip were deacons. (Acts 6:1-8) Both did the work of an evangelist, and Phillip held that office. (Acts 21:8) Ananias, who imparted the Holy Ghost to Apostle Paul by laying on of hands, was simply “a disciple”. (Acts 9:10-17) Cornelius was a soldier. (Acts 10:22) Aquila and Priscilla were tentmakers. (Acts 18:1-3, 19:26) Appolas was a teacher. (Acts 18:24-28) All of these people performed ACTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. And since it is in this book where people received Christ and became Christians, this is where we need now to look.

Acts 8:12-17, 36-39 In verse 16 it says they were baptized in the NAME of the LORD JESUS and in verse 38 it says Phillip and the eunuch WENT DOWN both INTO THE WATER where Phillip baptized him. Verse 39 tells us they WERE COME UP OUT OF THE WATER and Phillip was “caught away”.

Acts 9:18...says Paul “arose and was BAPTIZED.”

Acts 10:44-48. Here they were commanded to be BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF THE LORD.

Q. What is the NAME OF THE LORD?
A. Let’s go back to Acts 9. Paul saw a light from heaven (v3) and asked the question, ‘Who art thou, LORD?’ And the LORD said, I AM JESUS...” Peter said in Acts 2:36: God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both LORD AND CHRIST.” Now we have already seen that there is only ONE LORD. (Eph. 4:5) And Jesus was both LORD (God) and CHRIST (Messiah). And the LORD answered Paul by saying His NAME was JESUS. Stephen died calling upon God, and saying, LORD JESUS receive my spirit. (Acts 7:39) Notice what Stephen “called” God. Once more, “he called on God, saying, LORD JESUS...” Thomas said to Jesus, “My LORD and my GOD.” (John 20:28)

Phillipians 2:11 says; “And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Which is the fulfillment of the declaration of the LORD (JEHOVAH GOD) in Isaiah 45:23. “I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth [in] righteousness, and shall not return, That UNTO ME every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.” Once more, Phil. 2:10-11 “ That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow...every tongue should confess that JESUS CHRIST IS LORD...” And Romans 14:11 says, “For it is written, [As] I live, saith the LORD, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to GOD.”

Jesus Christ is the Lord! So, in order to obey the command to be BAPTIZED in the NAME OF THE LORD, they would have had to be BAPTIZED in the NAME OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST! Of Acts 10:48, the Amplified Bible says ‘in the NAME OF JESUS CHRIST.’ The Living Bible says, ‘in the NAME OF JESUS, THE MESSIAH.’ (The word Messiah is Hebrew. The word Christ is from the Greek ‘ho Christos’. Both mean the same, ‘the anointed one’). The Greek Lexicon says, ‘in the NAME of’Jesus Christ, JESUS CHRIST. (Interlinear translation of the Greek Scriptures, pg. 575) And even the CATHOLIC manuscript, the Vulgate, says, in the NAME OF JESUS CHRIST. (Emphatic Diaglott, pg. 440)
Acts 16:31-33. The Phillipian jailer was baptized after believing on the LORD JESUS CHRIST. He and all his house were saved, “believing in God with all his house” and being BAPTIZED the same night.

Acts 18:8 Crispus, and many of the Corinthians “believed on the LORD (Jesus) and were baptized.
Everywhere you look in the Scriptures where baptism takes place the NAME of Jesus Christ, the Lord is used. Nowhere IN THE BIBLE was anyone ever baptized ANY OTHER WAY. Never were the TITLES of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost used.

And it “SAVED” them all.

If you will search the encyclopedias and the Church Histories you will not find those TITLES used until after 325 A.D. Everywhere IN CHURCH HISTORY the NAME OF JESUS CHRIST was spoken over those who were baptized. And it “SAVED” them all.

Water Baptism in TITLES of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost is a Catholic dogma carried over from the Dark Ages by the reformers. This mode of Baptism was adopted at the Nicea Council in Nicea, Rome in the 4th Century, and formed the basis for the Roman Catholic Church’s organization of Christianity. Yet, even their own records show that they baptized in the NAME of Jesus Christ prior to 325 A.D. It was this apostasy that began infant baptism which led to sprinkling. None of these forms of “baptism” are found in the Bible. At the close of this epistle I will include as an appendix quotations from history as to the origin of these dogmas. But it should be sufficient evidence that there is nowhere in the Bible any record of these traditions. They were definitely not a part of the Original Church, the one admonished by Jude to ‘contend earnestly for THE FAITH (Eph. 4:5) once delivered to the saints.’ (Jude 3) “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” (Col. 2:8)

Even the “Virgin Mary” (who was no longer a virgin...Matt. 1:25, 12:46-48) had to come forth out of the upper room, along with her other sons (Acts 1:13-14) and be baptized in the NAME OF JESUS CHRIST. (Acts 2:41)
Peter said that in order to be saved it was necessary to call upon the NAME of the LORD in Acts 2:21. Which NAME is JESUS. Let us now deal with the question:

Q. Why did Jesus say “baptizing in the NAME of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost? That was His commission in MATTHEW 28:19.
A. Because that is exactly what He desired for us to do. And that is exactly what all of the Bible saints did. That was exactly what Peter insisted on when he said, “...be baptized in the NAME OF JESUS CHRIST.” He was following the LORD’s instructions to baptized in the NAME (not names, or titles) of JESUS CHRIST.

Let me now ask a question...or questions. What is the NAME of the Father?

John 5:43 “I am come in my Father’s NAME...” Jesus came in Father’s NAME, just as I come to you in my father’s name. If I ask you, ‘What is your father’s name?’ You might say, ‘Mr. Doe.’ I would have first perhaps asked, ‘What is your name?’ To which you might answer, ‘John Doe.’ I might then ask ‘Why is it that you both have the same NAME?’ To which you would reply, ‘It is our FAMILY NAME.’ Certainly. And Jesus came in His Father’s name, Jesus , which is the FAMILY NAME OF HEAVEN. Eph. 3:14-15. “ For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our LORD JESUS CHRIST, OF WHOM THE WHOLE FAMILY OF HEAVEN AND EARTH IS NAMED.”

Hebrew 2:11-12: “For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified [are] all of one (Father): for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, Saying, I will DECLARE THY NAME unto my brethren...”
John 17:26 “And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare [it]...”
John 17:6 “I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me...”
John 17:12 “While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name...”

The NAME OF THE FATHER IS JESUS CHRIST.
WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE SON?
Luke 1:31-32; 2:21

The name Jesus was given Him before He was conceived in the womb. And my name, your name, was settled before we were conceived because it is a FAMILY NAME.

Jesus is the same as the Hebrew, Johua. Joshua means JHVH (Jehovah) Saves. Therefore, JESUS IS JEHOVAH SAVIOUR. Matt. 1:21 And Jehovah is the only Saviour there is.

Isaiah 43:3, 10-13. Verse 11 states plainly: “I, even I, am the LORD; and beside Me there is no saviour.” Verse 10 said; “before Me there was no God formed, NEITHER SHALL THERE BE AFTER ME.” And verse 13: “There is NONE that can DELIVER OUT OF MY HAND.”

Isaiah 44:24: “THUS SAITH THE LORD, (JHVH) thy REDEEMER, and he that formed thee from the womb, I [am] the LORD that maketh all [things]; that stretcheth forth the heavens ALONE; that spreadeth abroad the earth BY MYSELF.”
Who then is “His Son, whom He hath appointed heir of all things, BY WHOM HE ALSO MADE THE WORLDS”? (Heb. 1:2) WHO IS “His dear Son:...Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For BY HIM (Jesus) were ALL THINGS CREATED, that are in HEAVEN, and that are in EARTH, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: ALL THINGS WERE CREATED BY HIM, AND FOR HIM: And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist.”? (Col 1:13-19) VERSE 19 gives us the answer. He is God, the Father in His Son Jesus. “For it pleased [the Father] that in him should all fullness dwell.” Fullness of what? “For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. (Col 2:9) God, Who CANNOT LIE, said He made the heaven and earth BY HIMSELF. JESUS IS NOT IN THE GODHEAD, THE FULLNESS OF THE GODHEAD IS IN JESUS.

Isaiah 45:21 says; “...[there is] no God else beside me; a just God and a SAVIOUR; [there is] NONE BESIDE ME.” No other Saviour but Jehovah God. THUS SAITH THE LORD!

Isaiah 49:26 “... all flesh shall know that I the LORD [am] thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.”

Isaiah 44:6 “THUS SAITH THE LORD THE KING of Israel, and his (Israel’s...Jacob) REDEEMER the LORD OF HOSTS; I [am] the FIRST, and I [am] the LAST; AND BESIDE ME THERE IS NO GOD.” EVEN GOD KNOWS NOTHING OF A TRINITY! “Is there a God beside Me? yea, there is no God; I KNOW NOT ANY.” (Isa. 44:8)

GOD IS YOUR SAVIOUR, GOD IS YOUR REDEEMER. JEHOVAH GOD THE LORD.

Psalm 106:21 “...They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt.” And MARY, the mother of Jesus, a Hebrew girl who believed in ONE GOD, JEHOVAH, said; “...my spirit hath rejoiced in GOD my SAVIOUR.” (Luke 1:47)
How could God, Who CANNOT LIE, and Who declared that He was BY HIMSELF in creation, that there was NONE OTHER GOD but He, Himself (not themselves) and that there would come NO GOD AFTER HIM, have “sent the Son to be the SAVIOUR OF THE WORLD.”? And , yet He did. How is this? What does it mean?

Luke 2:11 “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which IS CHRIST THE LORD.” Matthew 1:21-23. EMMANUEL, a son, JESUS. “EMMANUEL, which being interpreted is, GOD WITH US.”

Titus 1:1-4. Verse 2 tells us God CANNOT LIE. Verse 3 says “GOD, OUR SAVIOUR.” Verse 4 says, “... God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.” READ THAT AGAIN! God the Father and the Lord (then His NAME) JESUS CHRIST, (Who is) our SAVIOUR. God is our Father. God is the LORD. JESUS CHRIST IS HIS NAME. “And God...our Father and Lord (THE LORD...THE ONLY LORD...GOD) JESUS CHRIST, OUR SAVIOUR.”

Titus 2:13 “ Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.” The appearing of our GOD, JESUS CHRIST, the SAVIOUR. Verse 10 says, “the doctrine of God our Saviour...”
I Timothy 4:10 “For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, (Acts 5:40,41) because we trust in the LIVING GOD, WHO IS THE SAVIOUR of all men, specially of those that believe.” Christians.

Jude 25 “To the only wise God our Saviour, [be] glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.”
Matthew 28:18,19 “...All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, BAPTIZING them IN THE NAME of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” The Father (Jesus), the Son (Jesus).
WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE HOLY GHOST?

John 14:26 “But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send IN MY NAME...” JESUS! That’s the NAME of the Holy Ghost, Who is God. John 4:24: “ God [is] a Spirit...” God is a Spirit, and there is ONLY SPIRIT. God is holy. God is a Spirit that is holy. God is a Holy Spirit. GOD IS THE HOLY SPIRIT. AND HIS NAME IS JESUS CHRIST.
John 14:8-10: “ Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father...” Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, Philip...and still you don’t know Me? When you have seen me you have seen the Father...the Father that DWELLETH IN ME, He doeth the works.”

2 Cor. 5:9: “God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself.” “GREAT IS THE MYSTERY OF GODLINESS, GOD WAS MANIFEST IN THE FLESH”
John 1:18 “ No man hath seen God at any time; the only BEGOTTEN Son, which is in the BOSOM OF THE FATHER, He hath declared [Him].” The word, “declared,” in the Greek is exhghsato and literally means “has made known.” (Emphatic Diaglott, pg. 313)

God is invisible. 1 Timothy 1:17 “...the King eternal, invisible, the only wise God...” And Jesus is the “image of the invisible God” Col. 1:15. And Jesus said, “No man hath ascended UP TO heaven, but He that CAME DOWN FROM heaven, even the Son of Man WHICH IS IN HEAVEN.” “For IN HIM (Jesus) dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.” (Col. 2:9) “...This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” (Matt. 3:17) The Holy Spirit is God, and His Name is Jesus Christ. Lord (God, Jehovah) Jesus (the begotten Son) Christ (Holy Ghost anointing) LORD Jesus Christ. That is the Name of our God. Begotten means “born of flesh.” Jesus is the only son of God born through a woman by a union with God. God, the Holy Spirit, impregnated Mary, a virgin, and she brought forth a man-child, Jesus.

Luke 1:35 “...The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, (Mary) and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that HOLY THING which shall be born of thee shall be CALLED the Son of God.”
Mary, a human. A mortal. A virgin woman. Overshadowed by the Holy Ghost, God. And a blood cell and an egg cell (Seed) came together in a virgin womb. A woman united with God in a holy union that brought about creation. Mary conceived, without sensation, by a supernatural act of God, the Father.
Father means creator. Son is created. Begotten is fathered, sired,...produced. God, the Holy Ghost, the everlasting Father, Creator, brought life into the body of a human being, a virgin woman. That creation was the ONLY BEGOTTEN SON of God.
A son of God is a union of flesh and Spirit of God. We were shaped in iniquity, conceived in sin, because of the union of flesh that gave us life. The very first cell in our ‘creation’ was a corrupted one. Yet, God by a union of flesh and Spirit called the Baptism of the Holy Ghost, made possible by the broken blood cell of Jesus at Calvary, brings about a transformation from sin and death, to righteousness and eternal life. That ‘new creation’ is called “son of God.”

Jesus by-passed sin through virgin birth. He came by a sinless act of creation. Life in a virgin womb. “Therefore also that HOLY THING (a son forming up in a womb, flesh manifesting, into a perfect tabernacle not made with hands)...that HOLY THING (BODY) shall be CALLED...not NAMED...the Son of God. No other son ever came that way. That is why Jesus is the ONLY BEGOTTEN OF THE FATHER. (John 1:14)
Isaiah 7:14 “Therefore the LORD HIMSELF shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”

Therefore the LORD HIMSELF is responsible for this sign. A son born by the power of the LORD HIMSELF. If Jesus Christ is THE LORD then He is, Himself responsible for this sign. He is the Creator, or Father of this tabernacle. Acts 10:36 tells us that Jesus is LORD of all.
“Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?” JOHN 7:42

Matt. 22:41-45 “While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, [The Son] of David. He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool? If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?” So, though He is the Son of David, after the flesh, neither did David Father Him.
“Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ...” Eph. 1:3

Rom. 15:6 declares God to the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus also claimed this to be truth. “The Father worketh hitherto, and I work. Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but said that God was His Father, MAKING HIMSELF EQUAL WITH GOD.” “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God.” Phil. 2:5-6
That word FORM in Phil. 2:6 is ‘ en morphe’ in the Greek, meaning SHAPE. The word is derived from the root ‘meros’ meaning A SHARE. Jesus was equal to the Father, being the Father in a shape or form. “The brightness of His glory and the express image of His PERSON.” (Not persons). “ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the WORD OF LIFE; (For THE LIFE was manifested, and we have seen [it], and bear witness, and shew unto you that ETERNAL LIFE, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) I John 1:1-2.

“...and the Word was God...And the Word was made flesh...” John 1:1,14 “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us...” God was manifested. (1 Tim. 3:16) God, the LOGOS, tabernacled among us...pitched His tent. God, came into His temple. (Mal. 3:1) “(and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,)...” John 1:14.
Here we have witness that God was His Father. At the same time, we see that He was the Father in flesh. Yet, to most people God the Father is not one and the same with God, the Son. And God, the Holy Ghost is SUPPOSED to complete a Trinity. A ‘there in one God.’ Somehow, contrary to all His Own declarations in Scripture that He is One God, existing by Himself alone, with no on else to share His glory (Isa. 42:8), He is relegated only a portion since He must share existence with two other parts of Himself, deliberately and unapologetically called ‘persons’. Three persons in one person. ??? (The term personality is sometimes substituted for person but there is not difference between a person and a personality. The two are synonymous.)
Now if there are three persons in One God, which defies the only true and perfect science, mathematics, then which of these three is the Father of Jesus? Jesus said God was His Father, but He neglected to tell us which one? Was it Father God or Holy Ghost God?

Matt. 1:18 tells us the Mary “was found with child of the Holy Ghost.” Verse 20 states that Mary was pregnant by the Holy Ghost...”for that which is conceived in her is OF THE HOLY GHOST.” Does this not also make the Holy Ghost a Father? Did this mean then that Jesus had two Fathers? Which of these two persons fathered the third? And if Jesus is one of the three persons (personalities) in the Godhead, how did all three persons hold their respective places while gathered all together in Him? (Col. 2:9) WHOSE SON IS HE? Son of David, Son of God, Son of Spirit, Son of Lord Himself? Surely Jesus could not have been His own Father. But if He had two Fathers doesn’t that make Him somehow illegitimate? And why did He not speak of My Fathers rather then My Father? WHAT THINK YE OF CHRIST? WHOSE SON IS HE?

ISAIAH 9:6 “FOR UNTO US A CHILD IS BORN, UNTO US A SON IS GIVEN: and the GOVERNMENT shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be CALLED Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” (His name was CALLED all these TITLES). Did you ever notice all those capitol letters? (Oh, how I love the King James) The...God, The...Father. And both in a son. A child to be born.

God’s Word is true. He cannot lie. The Father of Jesus was the Holy Ghost as Scripture says. The Father of Jesus was God, as Scripture says. The Father of Jesus was the Lord Himself, as Scripture says. And Jesus Christ is the Lord Himself, as Scripture says.

Jesus was a man. Luke 2:4-7, 21-23. “...When the fullness of time was come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the law.” The law of reproduction says that every seed brings forth of its own kind. (Gen. 1:11) “To redeem them that were under the law, (which law brought death) that we might receive the ADOPTION OF SONS. AND BECAUSE YE ARE SONS, GOD HATH SENT FORTH THE SPIRIT OF HIS SON INTO YOUR HEARTS, CRYING, ABBA, FATHER.” GAL. 4:4-6
The male supplies the blood wherein is the life. The female supplies the ‘pulp’ to produce the flesh. Jesus, born of a woman, was a man. A union between God and woman made Jesus a God-Man. A tabernacle of flesh, made in the likeness of man. God’s tabernacle, His earthly dwelling.

1 Timothy 2:5 “For [there is] one God, and one MEDIATOR between God and men, the MAN Christ Jesus.” A mediator. A ‘go between.’ to bridge the gap between the natural man and the supernatural God. A PLACE FOR THE TWO TO MEET. The word in Greek is mesites, which simply means a ‘go between’. And that is what our English word means. Mesites derives from mesos meaning ‘middle’. The EARTHLY body given the name Jesus was a MIDDLE GROUND between God and man. EPH. 2:13-16,18: “ made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and (who) HATH BROKEN DOWN THE MIDDLE WALL OF PARTITION (mesos toichos) [between us]; Having abolished IN HIS FLESH (body of earth) the enmity...that he might reconcile both unto God in ONE BODY BY THE CROSS... For through him we both have access by ONE SPIRIT unto the Father.” Back to God again.
God became a man. A God-Man. THE GOD, Holy Spirit, became into a flesh dwelling made from the earth’s elements as all are (Gen. 2:7) to tabernacle among us in a dwelling not made with hands. God with us, Emmanuel. God in skin. The Father in a Son (flesh). The Father (Spirit...Jn. 4:24) in flesh (Jesus...a man). And He thereby bridged the gap with that ‘go between’ so that Spirit of God and flesh of man could be reunited. God could once more walk with ADAM. So that we too, could be called the sons of God. Sons of God with God’s Own Eternal Life. HALLELUJAH!
Now God is One God. And God and Jesus are One as He declared in John 10:30. He did not say, ‘I and My Father are three in one.’ He said, “I and My Father ARE one” I and My Father ARE ONE AND THE SAME. How could you derive any other meaning out of that? That is as plain as could be said in the English language. And it is just as plain in the Greek. “I and the Father one (thing) We are.” (Interlinear, pg. 460) “I and the Father One are.” (Diaglott, pg. 357)

In English, one means one. One stands alone by itself. One is not ‘more than one’. One is not three. Three is more than one. Jesus said, I and My Father are one. One Lord (Jesus Christ) One God (Jesus Christ) and Father of all (Jesus Christ). LORD JESUS CHRIST. God, the Lord in His Anointed Son, Christ Jesus. Father, Son, Holy Ghost, these three are One. 1 John 5:7-8 “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and THESE THREE ARE ONE. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and THESE THREE AGREE IN ONE.” These earthly witnesses are not one, they only agree in one...they are THREE. One, two, three. ONE looks like this. If I put down TWO here, then I have ONE over here and another over there. One here, another one, which is two, over there. If I add one more, that’s three, I will have one over here, one more over there to make two, and still another over here to make three. That is how mathematics works. Simple, huh? THEN HOW DO SENSIBLE PEOPLE MAKE ONE OUT OF THREE? OR, THREE OUT OF ONE?

The three that bear record in heaven, the Word says, ARE ONE. John 1:1 “ In the beginning was the Word, (logos) and the Word was with God, (Father) and the Word was God.” So the Word is God and the Father is God. That’s two that are one. Not two in one. Two that absolutely ARE ONE. Both the same. John 1:14 “ And the Word was made flesh...the only begotten of the Father...” Is that Jesus? Then the Word (God) in flesh, so the Son (Word in flesh) is God, and God is the Father. That’s two that are one. Not two in one, not two that agree in one, these two are ONE AND THE SAME. “I and My Father are ONE.”

So now we have God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, His Son. And still we have one. Praise God! And John 4:24 and we get three THAT ARE ONE.

Phillipians 4:20. Watch! “Now unto God and our Father [be] glory for ever and ever...” I Thessalonians 3:11. “Now GOD HIMSELF AND OUR FATHER, AND OUR LORD Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you.” Now look what we’ve got. If we separate these according to the thinking of the Trinitarian, we are going to have a mess. If God the Father is one person, and God the Son is another, who is GOD HIMSELF? And if the conjunction AND separates persons then there are even more than three in the Godhead. Taking Phil. 4:20 we get God (1) the Father (2) and the Lord Jesus Christ (3) and the Holy Spirit (4). ADD THE SEVEN SPIRITS OF GOD, THROW IN A FEW “HAIL MARY’S AND A STATUE OR TWO AND YOU HAVE THE ROMAN CHURCH, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT WHERE ALL THE CONFUSION BEGAN!
“HEAR, O ISRAEL: THE LORD OUR GOD IS ONE LORD”

“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, THAT WE MAY KNOW HIM THAT IS TRUE, and we are in Him that is true, EVEN HIS SON JESUS CHRIST. THIS IS THE TRUE GOD, and eternal life.” “...that we might know the TRUE ONE (alhuinon); and we are in the TRUE ONE (alhuinw) by His Son Jesus Anointed. This is the TRUE ONE GOD (alhuinj) Emphatic Diaglott, pg. 804

Now let’s discuss TITLES. I am a father. That is a title for what I am. I am a father to my children. And I am also a son, to my parents. I am a father, a son, and I am a spirit. The title given to my spirit is man, or human. So I am father, son and human. These descriptive TITLES identify my position or my relationship at this time. My son has no claim to me as son, but he does know me as a human. He does not know me as son, because to him I am father. My mother has no claim to me as father, I’m her son. I was a son before I was a father, but the seed by which I became a father was in me from the beginning, as a son of promise. I have always been, constantly, a spirit or a human. I am all of these things, yet I am but one person. I have only one personality by which I am a human being. And I have a NAME. THAT NAME IS FOR IDENTIFICATION OF ME TO ALL. That name identifies me in whatever office or relationship I am in.

Alright. Let’s go a little further. If I send my son to the bank with power of attorney to obtain funds IN MY NAME, he would be turned away without reward if he ‘in the name of father’. Or, my mother under the same conditions would not succeed with ‘in the name of son’. In order to gain what they came for they would have to sign my NAME.

And I, like everyone else, have a FAMILY NAME. It is the name my wife takes when she comes into the family by marriage. It is the name my son will inherit. My sons will carry the name on in the family through their sons, in this way I, by NAME, can live perpetually. But my titles are not as lasting. They apply only to certain conditions and certain periods. Some change, others don’t.

If, for instance, I were to lose my parents. I would still be a son, though the parents were gone, but there would be no one to call me by that title. No one with a claim on me as son. Same thing if I no longer had my children. But I am a human (spirit) to all, and would always answer to that title.

God is a Father, a Creator, Who fathered all things. Since I am one of those things I have a claim on Him as Father. Jesus is not my son...though as Creator, he is my Father...He is the Son of God, my Father. He bears the FAMILY NAME which He obtained BY INHERITANCE, (Heb. 1:4) even as I now do in my family. I gained this NAME by birth. That’s how I came into the family. (YOU CANNOT ‘JOIN’ A FAMILY). That birth came when I passed through the blood of justification, the water of sanctification, and received the spirit of life. Water, blood, and spirit. These are the three elements present at every birth. (1 John 5:8)

There is only one other way to enter a family. That is when a woman becomes a bride to the NAME BEARER. And I have not only been born into this family by a “new birth” but I have been married to Him as His bride. The Church, which is the FAMILY, is also His Bride. See how perfectly God’s Word is?

God always was Spirit. He still is. (John 4:24) But God BECAME flesh. (1 Tim. 3:16, John 1:14) He was always a Father, SPIRIT. A Creator. But He became a Son. When the Spirit of God came into flesh that was, and still is, a son of God. The FAMILY NAME of heaven is Jesus Christ. And when God came into flesh He was still called by many TITLES but He only has one NAME. And when a new member of the FAMILY comes in...by birth, by marriage...that person takes the FAMILY NAME. He does not inherit the TITLES, he only receives the NAME. And from that time on he is known by the FAMILY NAME. For this reason we are baptized into the FAMILY receiving the FAMILY NAME, and are ever afterward known as CHRISTIANS. The NAME OF OUR FATHER, THE FAMILY NAME, IS LORD JESUS CHRIST. To be baptized in TITLES would not give you the FAMILY NAME. And you and I have no rights to the TITLES of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Not THE FATHER, THE SON, AND THE HOLY GHOST. You may be a father, or you certainly are someones son (or daughter) but you are not THOSE THREE TITLES.

THE TRUE ONE, THE MIGHTY GOD, THE EVERLASTING FATHER, THE PRINCE OF PEACE, THE KING OF KINGS, LORD OF LORDS, LORD OF HOSTS, COUNSELLOR, WONDERFUL, COMFORTER, PARACLETE, LILY OF THE VALLEY, ROSE OF SHARON, STAR OF JACOB, BRIGHT AND MORNING STAR, THE BRANCH, THE ROOT AND OFFSPRING OF DAVID, ALPHA, OMEGA, FIRST AND LAST, FATHER, SON, HOLY GHOST, SON OF MAN, SON OF GOD, SON OF DAVID,.......etc.

All are TITLES for God, Whose NAME is LORD JESUS CHRIST.
Matthew 28:19 does not instruct us to baptize in the TITLES of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. It does not say to baptize in the names (which they are not anyway) but is does COMMAND us to baptize in the NAME of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, which NAME is LORD JESUS CHRIST.

Jesus gave the command to Peter (among other). Peter had been given the commission to inaugurate the Church in Matt. 16; because of that he commanded on that day, “Repent, and be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ.” Peter proved in Matt. 16:16 that he knew Who Jesus was. He recognized Jesus as the promised son of Isaiah 9:6, the Messial. And Jesus gave him an everlasting covenant for the Church. “Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Peter was promised that on that day, Pentecost to come, that whatever he said, God would honor it for as long as the Church should stand. (Matt. 16:13-19). And as He went up He told Peter and the others (Matt. 28:16-18) “ Go ye therefore, and teach all nations...(Teach what? “Believe on the Name of the Lord, Jesus Christ) baptizing them in the NAME of the Father, (Jesus Christ) and of the Son, (Jesus Christ) and of the Holy Ghost (Jesus Christ). And Peter did just that in Acts 2. He repeat Christ’s command, leaving off all mystery. (Pro. 25:2 & Luke 10:21) “The SECRET of the LORD [is] with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant. Ps. 25:14

Peter boldly declared the Name of the Lord to be Jesus Christ when He said, “God hath made this same Jesus...Both Lord and Christ.” And in Acts 4:12 he said, “ Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other NAME under heaven given among men, whereby we MUST be saved.”

Paul taught exactly the same thing and showed the absolute necessity of water baptism in Acts 19:1-6.
If water baptism were not ESSENTIAL why was it necessary for these disciples to be re-baptized in order to get the Holy Ghost? They were BELIEVERS IN JESUS CHRIST. THEY HAD BEEN BAPTIZED. (All good Baptist doctrine. Fundamental.) But they had not received the Holy Spirit, so they were not saved. Paul asked, “have you receive the Holy Ghost SINCE you believed?”

Eph. 1:13-14. “(Christ) In whom ye also [trusted], after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also AFTER THAT YE BELIEVED, YE WERE SEALED WITH THAT HOLY SPIRIT of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance (down payment to settle the contract) until the redemption of the purchased possession...” For without the Spirit of Christ you are none of his.
“Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?” ‘Nope!’ They didn’t even know about the Holy Ghost. (Like a lot of church members today that come in by Easy believism.) These were sincere, they were just ignorant of the Truth. So Paul fixed it. Said, ‘You don’t have the Holy Ghost? Something’s wrong. HOW, “unto what”, WERE YOU BAPTIZED? He knew if they obeyed the correct formula they would have gotten the Holy Ghost, whether they knew about it or not. It was a PROMISE OF GOD. (Acts 2:39)

Now they had been baptized. But the problem, according to Paul’s question, was HOW IT WAS DONE...FOR WHAT PURPOSE, AND IN WHAT MANNER. So it does make a difference how you are baptized. It made a big difference to these disciples.

Now these in Acts 19 had been BAPTIZED THE SAME WAY JESUS WAS, (Who needed no redemption) ”unto John’s baptism.” What was John’s baptism?

1) IT WAS WATER BAPTISM. (John 1:26-31) But it was only by way of introduction to repentance found in the Messiah, Jesus.

2) IT WAS A WITNESS of sanctification, for confession of sins. (Matt. 3:6)
It could not save them because only Jesus Christ could follow it up with the Spirit baptism. (Matt. 3:11) And that Spirit was not yet imparted to the believer. (John 7:39, 16:7) John’s baptism only pointed the way to repentance, it did not bring repentance. John 3:13-17)

Paul told them they needed to “believe on the Name of Jesus Christ” as their previous baptism could not do the job, not being the correct formula given the Church, at Pentecost. They weren’t baptized in any NAME, just ‘dipped’ as a sign of their repentance at the preaching of John. The washing away of sin. (Jesus was baptized as a symbol of the washing of the sacrifice. This was in order to “fulfill all things.” (Isa. 5:16 & John 10:36) And when they heard that NAME taught they obeyed and were baptized IN IT. “baptized in the NAME OF THE LORD JESUS” they received the Holy Ghost for salvation after Paul had laid his hands upon them. They did not, could not, receive the Spirit baptism until they had OBEYED THE COMMAND.
Paul said in Col. 3:17, “And whatsoever ye do in WORD or DEED, [do] ALL IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS...” Baptism is both WORDS AND DEEDS.

Yes! YOU MUST BE BAPTIZED. Both in water and in Spirit. It is a COMMAND OF THE LORD. (John 14:15, 21, 23) You cannot receive the PROMISE without full obedience to the Word. And without the PROMISE (Holy Ghost) you are NONE OF HIS, saith Scripture.

Q. What about the thief on the cross? He was not baptized.
A. No, he wasn’t And HE WAS NOT A CHRISTIAN. He received a promise of “paradise” by the Spoken Word of God in a special dispensation of grace. The same Word that created the worlds, the same word that holds them in place, that same Word SPOKE A WORD OF PROMISE to deliver the thief to PARADISE. But he was not BORN AGAIN. For he did not receive the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost IN ALL THE FULLNESS OF THE GODHEAD WAS IN JESUS, and was not yet given to the Church. Not until fifty days later was it given. “And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you ANOTHER comforter, that He may abide with you and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless, I will come to you.” He promised to return in Spirit form to give comfort to the Church. He was their comfort at that time. The Father (Spirit) was in Jesus to comfort them. That “form” of comfort was to go away, and would not be available to them. But the same One Who was speaking out of that “form” would return in Spirit form to comfort the New Testament Church.

When the thief was granted grace by the Spoken Word of God, there was no Church. There were no Christians. The thief did not need to be baptized for THE COMMAND WAS NOT YET GIVEN. BUT EVERYONE IN THE NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH MUST DO SO. “For he that believeth and is BAPTIZED shall be saved, but he that believeth not shall be damned.” And, “there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we MUST be saved.” THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.

Q. Bro. Paul. I’m in prison. What if I am unable to be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ? Should I do it some other way? What if something should happen to me before I can get baptized? Would I be lost? Also, can I get the Holy Spirit without the water, or must I wait for that? What should I do?
A. Yes, my brother, I am aware of such circumstances. It is true that you cannot always get baptized in the correct way in prison. It is unfortunate, but true. In some institutions you cannot get baptized at all, and in others you can only get the Catholic form, in TITLES. But I would caution you not to rush into error. This mode of baptism is anti-christ dogma. I would certainly wait, as many in the prisons must.

No, brother. You are not lost. If you have truly repented in your heart of your sins and recognized that Jesus Christ was your atonement...God will receive you. You MUST be perfectly willing and anxious to obey the command for baptism, however. God knows your heart. God is omniscient. That means He is all-knowing. He knows the end from the beginning, so He certainly knows your situation. He has fed you every meal you ever had, He has clothed you and fed you even when you were a sinner. For every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father. (James 1:17) Whatever you have received that was good came from Him. He has cared for you all your life, so He will certainly care for you now that you have surrendered to Him your life. God can do anything, except lie. And He promised not to turn away a broken and contrite heart. He’s God. He’s sovereign. And He is omniscient, and omnipotent (all-powerful). So be at ease, my brother, He cares for you and will not lose you.
God won’t cross His own Word, but He is big enough to control circumstances. If He saw that you were unable to obey the Word, yet willing, and that something was coming your way like that thief at Calvary, (death) He is able to preserve you, alter the situation to get you into the water, or whatever. He’s God. He is always on time. Nothing surprises Him. And there is no power that can usurp His Will. I have never know anyone losing out in this way. He is able to see that you obey His commands. And He took care of all His works long ago. (Eph. 1:4,5 Heb. 4:4)

You can get the Holy Ghost while you wait. Again, God is sovereign and He knows your heart. (Heb. 4:12) He knows the future and what you will do in it. He can therefore act accordingly. We have two outstanding examples in the Bible. The Apostle Paul and the Gentiles at the house of Cornelius. But notice, in both cases THE FIRST CHANCE THEY GOT THEY WERE BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST.

Don’t worry brother (or Sister). You just repent, be absolutly sure of your heart condition. Then if you are willing, in your heart, to obey all the Word of God, He will take care of the rest. God bless you.

Q. Why are we baptized?
A. There are three reasons: Obedience, Witness, and Identification.

1) To OBEY the command of God in His word.
Matt. 28:19 Acts 2:38 Rom. 6:17 I Peter 3:21

2) To WITNESS the power of God to save. When you are baptized you are testifying of your confidence in the atonement and of having put off the old manto come forth in the newness of lifr that you amy hereafter let Christ reign in you. We are buried with Him in baptism, planted in His likeness, to testify that we are dead to our former ways and brought forth from death to live with Him in righteousness and submission to God.
Rom. 6:3-13 Gal. 2:20 James 4:7-10

3) That we might be fully IDENTIFIED with Him in His death, burial, and ressurection. (Gal. 3:27) IDENTIFIED with Him in the willingness to bear His reproach. (Heb. 13:12-15) IDENTIFIED with Him by taking His NAME as a member of His Bride. (Rom. 7:2-4) IDENTIFIED with Him as a living sacrifice. (Rom. 12:1-2)

Q. What can I expect after I am Baptized?
A. You can anticipate that God will give you the promised indwelling Spirit. (Acts 2:38) by which you are sealed into the kingdom of God.

I Cor. 12:13 II Cor. 1:21-22 Eph. 1:13-14 Eph. 4:30 Rom. 8:1-17

APPENDIX A

“EVERYWHERE in the oldest sources it is stated that baptism is ‘in the name of Jesus’.”

The following are some quotations from historic record concerning Baptism:
HASTINGS DICTIONARY, pg.83
“The early Church always baptized in the Name of the Lord Jesus until the development of the Trinity. Afterward they were baptized in the Name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost.”

CANNEY ENCYCLOPEDIA, pg. 53
“It must be aknowledged that the formula of the threfold name does not appear to have been employed by the primative Church, which, so far as our information goes, baptized ‘in’ or ‘into’ the name of Jesus, or Jesus Christ (or the Lord Jesus), without reference to the Father or the Spirit.”

ENCYCLOPEDIA BRITTANICA, Volume 3, pg. 82
“Everywhere in the oldest sources it is stated that the baptism taken is ‘in the Name of Jesus’.”

ENCYCLOPEDIA BRITTANICA, Volume 3, pg. 84
“Whoever has received this sacrament bares indeliable to all eternity the mark of Christ.”

CANNEY ENCYCLOPEDIA, PG. 53
“The early Church always baptized in the Name of the Lord Jesus until the development of the Trinity; Afterward they were baptized in the Name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost.”

ENCYLOPEDIA BRITTANICA, Volume 3, pg. 365-366
“The triune and trinity formula was not uniformly used from the beginning, and up until the third century, baptism in the Name of Christ only was so wide spread that Pope Stephen, in opposition to St. Cyprian, said that baptism in the Name of Christ was valid. But the Catholic missionaries, by omitting one or more persons of the Trinity when baptizing, were anathematized (cursed) by the Roman Church. Now the formula of Rome is “I baptize thee in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”

DICTIONARY OF THE BIBLE, Scribners, Volume 1, pg. 241
“The original form of words were, into the Name of Jesus Christ or Lord Jesus. Baptism into the Trinity was a later development.”

THE FOLLOWING IS A TRUE RECORD OF A BAPTISM WHICH TOOK PLACE IN ROME A.D. 11. Reproduced in TIME Magazine December 5, 1955:

“The deacon raised his hand, and Publius Decius stepped through the baptistry door. Standing in waist-deep in the pool was Marcus Vasca the woodseller. He was smiling as Publius waded in to the pool beside him. ‘Credis?’ he asked. ‘Credo,’ responded Publius. ‘I believe that my salvation comes from Jesus Christ, who was crucified under Pontius Pilate. With Him I died that with I may have eternal life.’ Then he felt strong arms supporting him as he let himself fall backward into the pool, and heard Marcus’ voice in his ear- ‘I baptise you in the Name of the Lord Jesus’ as the cold water closed over him.”
COLLIER’S NEW ENCYCLOPEDIA, Volume 10, pg. 3

“The word “Trinity” is not even found in the scriptures and is said to have been first used by Theophilus, Bishop of Antioch, in the second century.”

THE CHURCH AND THE PAPISTRY, (extracted from a chart on events of the Roman Church:

“COUNCIL OF NICEA: Birth of the Trinity doctrine - Jesus declared to be a second person in a triune Godhead, and not the Only True God.........325 AD”

HASTING’S DICTIONARY OF THE BIBLE, pg. 88
“It must be acknowledged that the three-fold name of Matt. 28:19 does not appear to have been used by the primitive Church, but rather in the name of Jesus, Jesus Christ, or Lord Jesus.”

SCHAFF-HERZOG RELIGIOUS ENCYCLOPEDIA, Volume 1, pg. 435
“The New Testament Church knows only the Baptism in the name of Jesus Christ.”

CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA 1913 Edition, Volume 2, pg. 265
“Here the authors acknowledge that the baptismal formula was changed from the name of Jesus Christ to the Roman mode of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.”

NEW INTERNATIONAL ENCLCLOPEDIA Volume 22, pg. 477
“The council of Nicea stated that the trinitarian formula should be used in baptism (in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost) so that the Trinity (three persons of God) could be understood.”

CANNEY ENCYCLOPEDIA OF RELIGION
“The early Church always baptized in the Name of the Lord Jesus until the development of the Trinity doctrinr in the second century.”

HASTING’S ENCYCLOPEDIA OF RELIGION, Volume 2, pg. 377-389
“The Christian baptism was administered using the name of Jesus; the trinitarian formula of any sort was not suggested in the early Church History. Baptism was alyaws in the name of the Lord Jesus, until the time of Justin Martyr, when the trinity formula became know and practised.”

ENCYCLOPEDIA BRITTANICA, Eleventh Edition, Vol. 3, pg. 365-366
“The baptismal formula was changed by the Catholic Church from the name of Jesus Christ, to Father, son, and Holy Ghost, in the second century.

HASTING’S ENCYCLOPEDIA OF RELIGION, Volume 2, pg. 377 (commenting on Acts 2:38)
“Name was an ancient synonym for person. Payment was always made in the name of some person, referring to ownership, therefore, one being baptized in Jesus name became His personal property.”

CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA, Volume 2, pg. 259
“The TRUE DOCTRINE of the sacrament IS NOT TAUGHT BY THE ROMAN CHURCH. Baptism given HERETICS in the name of the Father and of the son and of the Holy Ghost with the intention of performing what the Church performs, IS NOT THE TRUE BAPTISM.”
NOTE:
Thus the Catholic Church testifies against herself. The following quotation from the edict of Theodosius X is very revealing. Given shortly after his baptism into the Church and elevation to authority, it not only shows the inconsistency of the Roman Church (the contradiction of the Popes through the ages) thus denying her the “infallibility” she claims; but it proves the orogin of the Trinity doctrine and the extreme efforts used to propagate this anti-christ dogma upon all the Christians:
FIRST EDICT OF THEODOSIUS (quoted from the EXPOSITION OF SEVEN CHURCH AGES, pg. 200
“We three emperors will that our subjects steadfastly adhere to the religion which was taught by Saint Peter to the Romans, which has been FAITHFULL PRESERVED by tradition and which is NOW professed by the pontiff, Damasus of Rome, and Peter, bishop of Alexandria, a man of Apostolic holiness according to the INSTITUTION of the Apostles, and the DOCTRINE OF THE GOSPEL; let us believe in one Godhead of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, OF EQUAL MAJESTY IN THE HOLY TRINITY. We order that the ADHERINTS OF THIS FAITH BE CALLED CATHOLIC CHRISTIANS; we brand all the senseless followers of the other religions with the infamous name of heretics, and forbid their conventicles assuming the name of churches. Besides the condemnation of divine justice, THEY MUST EXPECT THE HEAVY PENALITY WHICH OUR AUTHORITY, GUIDED BY HEAVENLY WISDOM SHALL THINK PROPER TO INFLICT...”AUGUSTINE HIPPO, Pope, 354-430
“It is indeed better that men should be led to worship God by teaching than that they should be driven to it by fear of punishment or pain, but it does not follow that because the former course produces the better men, therefore those who do not yield to it should be neglected. For many have found advantage (AS WE HAVE PROVED AND ARE DAILY PORVING BY ACTUAL EXPERIENCE) in being first COMPELLED BY FEAR OR PAIN, so that they might afterwards be influenced by teaching, so that they might follow out in act what they have already learned in word... whilst those are better who are guided aright by love, those are certainly more numerous WHO ARE CORRECTED BY FEAR. For who can possibly love us more than Christ, Who laid down His life for the sheep? Yet after calling Peter and the other apostles by His words alone, when He came to summon Paul, He not only constrained him with His voice, but even dashed him to the earth with His power; and that He might forcibly bring one who is raging amidst the darkness of infidelity, to desire the light of the heart, He first struck him with physical blindness of the eyes. WHY THEREFORE SHOULD NOT THE CHURCH USE FORCE in compelling her lost sons to return? The Lord Himself said, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges and compel them to come in.’ Wherefore if the power which the Church has received by divine appointment in it’s due season, through the religious character and faith of kings, be the instrument by which those who are found in the highways and hedges—that is in HERESIES AND SCHISMS—are compelled to come in, then let them not find fault with being compelled.”
NOTE:
According to Smucker’s GLORIOUS REFORMATION, and Foxes BOOK OF THE MARTYRS, and the records of the Catholic Church, herself, 68,000,000 were put to death, millinos of others tortured and maimed, between AD 54 and 1850 for refusing the false creeds of the Catholic Church and the Roman Pope....a Catholic Church founded on the basis of the Trinity doctrine and the false baptism of TITLES.
I challenge you to find a single record in history prior to the Roman take-over where anyone was ever baptized in the titles of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. If it isn’t in the Bible, and there is no historic evidence of it, where could it originate other than the depths of Satan, himself? The serpent, that old devil, Satan, (Rev. 20:2) still seeks worship and still deceives man into doing so unto him. Baptism in the titles of Father, son, and Holy Ghost is anti-Word, thus, anti-Christ. For He is the Word. (John 1:1,14)
Read what Peter, the REPUTED FOUNDER OF THE ROMAN CHURCH, had to say in II Peter 2. I quote from the first three versus (and encourage the reader to read the whole).
“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as THERE SHALL BE FALSE TEACHERS AMONG YOU, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, EVEN DENYING THE LORD (Jesus) that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. (Rev. 18) AND MANY SHALL FOLLOW THEIR PERNICIOUS WAYS; BY REASON OF WHOM THE WAY OF TRUTH SHALL BE EVIL SPOKEN OF. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you:”
Zechariah 14:7,9 “...but it shall come to pass, [that] at evening time it shall be light.....And the LORD shall be King over all the earth: IN THAT DAY SHALL THERE BE ONE LORD, AND HIS NAME ONE.

SPRINKLING AND INFANT BAPTISM

“Infants are baptized, and baptized persons are believed to receive the gift of regeneration from the Holy Ghost”
....from the Lutheran Catechism

SPRINKLING: Since there is no sprinkling performed by the Apostles, no Scriptures whatever concerning this practice of sprinking water for regeneration in the Bible, we must rely on history and authoritative scholars for information on it.
(Strong’s 4472) The Greek word for sprinkle is rhantizo derived from rhaino. In it’s simple form it does not appear in the New Testement at all. The word in its past tense form SPRINKLED is found in three places in Scripture. (Heb. 9:19, 21 and Heb. 10:22) The word SPRINKLING is found in Hebrews 9:13 in connection with blood and ashes of a heifer (water of separation-Num. 19) The word rhantizo is nowhere used in reference to baptism in the New Testament. The word for baptize is the Gk. baptizo.

GREEK-ENGLISH LEXICON by Liddel, Scott, and Thayer
“Baptism is taken from the Greek baptiso, to dip or immerse.

CLASSIC GREEK-ENGLISH DICTONARY by Pollet
“The Greek word is baptiso means to dip under.”

GREEK-ENGLISH DICTIONARY by Divrys
“The Greek word if baptiso which means to immerse.”

EMPHATIC DIAGLOTT in every instance translates baptizo ‘immerse’.

SCHAFF-HERZOG RELIGIOUS ENCYCLOPEDIA, Volume 1, pg.451
“Baptism was always a burial. The command to baptize was a command to immerse.”

CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA BIBLICALL pg. 61, paragraph 2
“Immersion was the oldest method employed. Buried in baptism as in Romans VI:IV.”

ENCYCLOPEDIA DICTIONARY OF THE BIBLE pg. 202
“It is evident that the action performed in baptizing was immersion.”

WORLD BOOK ENCYCLOPEDIA, Volume 2, pg. 70
“The early Church practiced immersion or submerging under the water.”

ENCYCLOPEDIA OF THE LUTHERAN CHURCHH Volume 1 pg. 188
“Martin Luther preferred immersion as more true to oriiginal practice.”

PULPIT COMMENTARY Volume 18, pg. 156
“Romans 6:4 ‘buried in baptism’: The reference is to baptism by immersion.”

INFANT BAPTISM:
ROMAN CATHOLISM by Loraine Boettner
“1. Baptism. Rome has perverted the meaning of baptism so that instead of accepting it as a symbolical ordinance,..an outward sign through which Christ and the benefits of the new covenant are represented and conveyed to the believer...it is represented as working in a magical way to produce baptismal regeneration and securing automatically the forgiveness of all past sins, and as (so) necessary to salvation...that it is not possible even for newly born infants to be saved so as to enjoy the delights of heaven unless they are baptized. To that end they have even invented a means of prenatal baptism. In the words of the Trent Catechism ‘Infants, unless regenerated unto God through the grace of baptism, whether their parents be Christian or infidel, are born to eternal misery and perdition.’ But what a horrible doctrine that was! And ...the Romish doctrine was so horrible and so unacceptalbe to the laity that it was found necessary to invent a third realm, the Limbus Infantum, to which unbaptized infants sent....excluded from heaven, but in which they suffer no pain.

The Ecumenical councils of Lyons and Florence and the canons of the Council of Trent declare positively that “unbaptized infants are confined to this realm.”

NOTE: The Councils of Lyons were held in 1245 and 1274 respectively. The Council of Basel Ferrara-Florence (referred to here) in 1431 and 1443. And the Council of Trent was held throughout the years 1545-1563.

HISTORY OF THE CHURCH by Walker, pgs. 87,88
“The first mention of infant baptism was made about 185 AD.”
Irenius alluded to it around 200 AD. and Terullian opposed the practice in the Second Century. But by the 5th Century ‘infant baptism’ was in common practice and was eventually, as we have seen, adopted as dogma into the Romish Church. (Dake’s

“The first recipients of baptism were adults only. Infant baptism was a later development THAT LED TO SPRINKING.”

INTERPRETERS BIBLE DICTIONARY Volume 1 pg. 352
“There is no direct evidence in the New Testament for infant baptism.’
The first of the Protestant Churches to adopt infant baptism was the Lutheran Church which brought it over with them from Catholicism as this quote from their history shows: “The two sacraments, baptism and the Lord’s Supper, are not merely signs or memorials, but channels through which God bestows his forgiving and everpowering grace upon human kind... infants are baptized, and baptized persons are believed to receive the gift of regeneration from the Holy Ghost.”
TIME Magazine May 1968 pg. 58

“350 Lutheran pastors of W. Germany desiring to abandon infant baptism refused to baptize their own infants feeling that baptism should be understood first by the recepient.”

ACTS 8:36,37 “...the eunuch said, See, [here is] water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, IF THOU BELIEVEST WITH ALL THINE HEART, THOU MAYEST. And he answered and said, I BELIEVE that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

Here we have clear Scriptural proof that believeing is a prerequisite for baptism. Mark 16:16 “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”

A child (infant) is incapable of believing unto salvation; and at the same time, he is incapable of unbelief. For this reason it is not necessary to baptise them. Jesus said “Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not; For of such is the kingdom of God.” (Luke 18:16) Pure in heart, unconscious of sin.

The first consideration is repentance. Baptism is an act of obedience resulting from repentace.
“...Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” Acts 2:38

Baptism without repentance is useless. Matthew 3:1-8,11 “In those days came John the Baptist, preaching In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand...Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan, And were BAPTIZED of him in Jordan, confessing their sins. But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his BAPTISM, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: ...I indeed baptize you with water unto REPENTANCE:

Acts 19:4,5 “Then said Paul, John verily BAPTIZED WITH THE BAPTISM OF REPENTANCE, saying unto the people, that they should BELIEVE on Him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. WHEN THEY HEARD THIS THEY WERE BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS.”

Repentance and belief on Jesus Christ’s atonement MUST precede Baptism or the effort is wasted. And Faith (by which we Believe) cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. (Rom. 10:17) In order to Believe, the Word of God must be preached.

Matt 28:19 “ Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them...” “And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” Luke 24:47, Mark 16:15,16 “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved...” ACTS 2:41 “Then they that gladly received his word (Peter’s preaching of repentance in V. 38) were BAPTIZED:...”
These three elements: BELIEF in PREACHING and REPENTANCE are necessary prerequisites to Baptism. How then can an infant require baptism?

THE TWO BABYLONS, by Alexander Hislop
“It is well known that regeneration by baptism is a fundamental article of Rome...at the very threshold of the Roman system. So important, according to Rome, is baptism for this purpose, that...it is pronounced of ‘absolute necessity for salvation,” * insomuch that infants dying without it cannot be admitted to glory...it is pronounced to be “the first door by which we enter into the fold of Jesus Christ, the first means by which we receive the grace of reconciliation with God; therefore the merits of His death are by baptism applied to our souls...to satisfy Divine justice for all demands against us, whether for original or actual sin.’ * Now, in both respects this doctrine is absolutely anti-Scriptural; in both it is purely Pagan. It is anti-Scriptural, for the Lord Jesus Christ has expressly declared that infants, without the slightest respect to baptism or any external ordinance whatever, are capable of admission into all the glory of the heavenly world: ‘Suffer the little children to come unto Me, and forbid them not; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”

“Bishop Hay, in defiance of every principle of God’s Word, does not hesitate to pen the following: ‘Question: What becomes of young children who die without baptism? Answer: If a young child were put to death for the sake of Christ, this would be to it the baptism of blood, and carry it to heaven; but except in this case, as such infants ARE INCAPABLE OF HAVING THE DESIRE OF BAPTISM, WITH THE OTHER NECESSARY DISPOSITIONS, if they are not actually baptised with water, they cannot go to heaven.’ (As this doctrine never came from the Bible, whence came it?) * IT CAME FROM
HEATHENISM.”

Now baptism is essential to salvation according to Scripture, but it is not for regeneration. THE WATER CANNOT SAVE. Baptism is for remission of sins. other words, it is an act of obedience to the Word and a witness of repentance. It is essential only as a part of God’s provided plan for redemption. Again, the water has no power to save. It (baptism in water) is not the ‘first door to Christ.’ Christ, Himself, is the ONLY DOOR to salvation. It is belief in the atonement made by the shed BLOOD of Jesus Christ that is the DOOR by which we enter into the fold. Faith in the finished work at Calvary. (John 10:9)
But, the Roman Catholic Bishop Hay continues thus: “There are two exceptions to this statement; (‘baptism is an absolute necessity for salvation’...ed.) the case of an infidel converted in a heathen land, WHERE IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET BAPTISED, and, in the case of a martyrr ‘baptised’ as it is called, ‘in his own blood;’ but in all other cases, WHETHER YOUNG OR OLD, the necessity is ‘absolute.’ (SINCERE CHRISTIANS by Bishop Hay, Volume 1, pg.363)
Read that and consider that in the United States of America which proclaims freedom of religious pursuit, it is a challenging task, an impossible task for some, to be baptised ACCORDING TO SCRIPTURE in penal institutions. The Catholic formula so dominates baptism that many are denied the opportunity for TRUE BIBLE BAPTISM in the name of Jesus Christ; and those wo do manage it while still incarcerated must do so against solid opposition. Thank God our Lord Jesus is not ROMAN CATHOLIC in His thinking or we would all be damned.

And, as for a ‘baptism in blood’, 68,000,000 Christians slaughtered by the Roman Catholic Church was ‘blood baptism’ a plenty. Yet, still it is ONLY the blood of Jesus Christ shed on Calvary that can accomplish salvation. No amount of human blood, shed under any circumstance whatever, can provide atonement for sin. The blood of God atones for sin, NONE OTHER. (Col. 1:14,15)
APPENDIX B

Lets look at one more Scripture. Hear what Jesus said: (Matt. 18:1-5) “....came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be CONVERT, AND BECOME AS LITTLE CHILDREN, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.”

Pure in heart, motive, innocent of sin by the innocence of free conscience. Except you be born again to the innocence of a child before His Father, you cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven. If Jesus called these children as examples of the cleansed life, wherein are they found guilty?

“Whosoever therefore shall humble himself AS THIS LITTLE CHILD, the same is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And WHOSO SHALL RECEIVE ONE SUCH LITTLE CHILD IN MY NAME RECEIVETH ME, but whoso shall offend one of these little ones WHICH BELIEVETH IN ME, it were better for him that a millsone were hanged about his neck and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.”

Jesus said the little children believed in Him. Certainly, they are incapable of unbelief. A child has confidence in what his elders say, He accepts without doubt his words. And that is what a child of God does in respect to His Father. “Except ye become as little children...”

“Woe unto the world because of offenses! for it MUST NEEDS BE THAT OFFENSES COME; BUT WOE TO THAT MAN BY WHOM THE OFFENSE COMETH.”

Once more let me quote Boettner: “The Romish doctrine was so horrible and so unacceptable to the laity that it was found necessary to invent a third realm, the LIMBUS INFANTUM...” WHICH IS ALSO OFFENSIVE! So much for Bishop Hay, the Pope, and his anti-christ WHORE, the ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH. (Rev. 17)

Infant baptism, sprinkling, AND TITLES of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are FALSE BAPTISM promoted by FALSE PROPHETS in league with, whether knowing or unknowing, the BEAST AND HIS IMAGE. The World Council of Churches that dominates the ecclesiastical scene today with its apostasy may close the DOOR with its creeds, but as long as there is one predestinated child of God whose name is on the Book of Life, the TRUE CHURCH will continue to cry out against it, and continue to baptise in the NAME OF JESUS CHRIST! The Roman Whore with her false baptism perverting God’s Word and annuling His promises for millions has certainly earned her ‘baptism of fire.’

“And He said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition...Making the Word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.”

“And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into GREAT TRIBULATION, except they repent of their deeds. And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am He that searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give everyone of you according to your works.”

READ REVELATION CHAPTER 18. THAT IS WHAT THE WHORE AND HER HARLOT DAUGHTERS (Catholics and Protestants alike) CAN EXPECT EXCEPT THEY REPENT AND RETURN TO THE WORD OF GOD. “Come out of her, My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.” (Rev. 18:4)

APPENDIX C

Q. Bro Paul, my (preacher) pointed out to me that Jesus said the words in Matt. 28:19 and Peter said those in Acts 2:38. He asked me should I take Jesus’ word of take Peter’s word. Why should Peter’s way be best? like he said, Who had more authority?
A. Brother, Now I do not wish to cause you to lose the confidence of your (preacher) but since you have taken it upon yourself to investigate and have read my paper, I certainly am obligated to defend my teaching since I, like your (preacher) must give an account for what I teach. Therefore, I submit the following response:

This may startle you, but neither Jesus nor Peter spoke with more or less authority since both spoke THE SAME THING and by the SAME SPIRIT. Let’s examine it closely.

We have already presented in the paper how that they spoke the same thing. Jesus said to be baptized in the NAME of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, which NAME, as we have shown, is LORD JESUS CHRIST. This is the same command that Peter gave on the day of the Church’s inauguration. (Acts 2:38)

It was the Lord Jesus Who gave Peter the authority to introduce the Church to baptism and the Christian way of life. In Matt. 16:17, Jesus declared that Peter had heard from heaven. At that time Peter was known as Simon. Simon is from the Hebrew Simeon or Shimeon meaning ‘hearer’. It was because of this ability to hear from the Father in heaven, that Jesus gave him the ‘keys’ to open the gospel and inaugurate the Church. Let’s hear Peter’s own words of testimony.

“...Men [and] brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by MY MOUTH should hear the word of the gospel, and believe. And God, which knoweth the hearts, BARE them WITNESS, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as [he did] unto us.” (Acts 15:7,8) Peter referred to Acts 10:44-48 “While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? AND HE COMMANDED THEM TO BE BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF THE LORD...”

What more authority could he receive? Jesus gave him the commission and God, the Holy Ghost, bore witness. IF THEIR WERE A TRINITY...WHICH THERE IS NOT...ALL THREE OFFICES OF GOD ARE REPRESENTED AND TESTIFY TO BAPTISM IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST, THE LORD.

But as to authority, from whence comes the authority of those who write the Scripture? 2 Peter 1:20,21: “Knowing the FIRST, that no prophecy of the Scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in olden time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were saved by the HOLY GHOST.” Jesus spoke by the Holy Ghost. Peter spoke by the Holy Ghost. Paul spoke by the Holy Ghost. The Bible was written by the Holy Ghost speaking through men of God, prophets. That’s Jesus (Lk. 24:19) Peter and Paul. If they spoke that that is written, they spoke by the Holy Ghost. The Word of God is their authority.

“ALL SCRIPTURE IS GIVEN BY INSPIRATION OF GOD...” 1 Timothy 3:16
Paul baptized exactly the same way that Peter did, as did everyone prior to the 2nd Century as we have proven, and Paul commanded those who had been baptized in another way to be rebaptized even though they had been baptized just like Jesus. Read the following Scriptures for Paul’s authority in the Church: Acts 9:15,16; Acts 13:46,47; 1 Cor. 9:1,2; 1 Cor. 14:37,38; Rom. 1:1,2 Rom. 11:13; 2 Cor. 11:5; 1 Tim. 1:1; 2 Tim. 1:1,8,9,11,13; Gal. 1:1,7,8,9,11,12. Amen.

“But if he will not hear [thee, then] take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.” Matthew 18:16

BIBLE ALMANAC, Old Time Gospel Hour Edition, pg. 540-541
“...Jews baptized their gentile converts, some Jewish sects practiced baptism as a symbol of purification, and John the Baptist made baptism as important part of his ministry. The New Testament does not say whether Jesus regularly baptized His converts, but on at least one occasion before John’s imprisonment He was found baptizing. (It may, however, have been JOHN’S BAPTISM HE WAS ADMINISTERING.) At any rate, THE EARLY CHRISTIANS WERE BAPTIZED IN JESUS’NAME FOLLOWING JESUS’ EXAMPLE. (cf. Mark 1:10 Gal. 3:27).”

NOTE: Although the English words “title” and “name” are often used synonomously, in actual point of fact there is a distiction between the two. While both are appelations for identification, the one refers to the characteristics of rank, office, privilege, birth, or as a mark of respect; while the other is by way of designation and distiction (to distinguish between two of the same). Name is more correctly applied to a specific identity rather than a general appelation as is a title. ie; The professor (TITLE) is Mr. Frank Speaker (NAME).
